Week 7 Question

Hi!

This week's question is brought to us by Kate. If you haven't been in Missoula long, you might want to talk to some students who have been here for a few months before you answer. Better yet, talk to an American who has lived in Missoula for awhile. Here is the question:

What is the best way for you to spend the weekend in Missoula?

Good question, and by answering it, you might give thenew students some ideas on how they can enjoy their weekends here in Missoula.

Happy writing!

Week 6 Question

Hi!

This week's questions is presented by Aisha.  The question is "open to interpretation" in that you can look at it from many different viewpoints. You might interpret it as asking for your feeling in general about the experience of coming to the U.S. (excited, nervous, anxious, scared, etc.); on the other hand, you might say something about how you felt about U.S. culture before you arrived here and how you feel now.  Here is the question:

How was your feeling before and after coming to the U.S.?

Think about your response and try to write as much as you can.

As always, happy writing!

Funnel Introductions

Hi!

For Monday, I'd like you to try write a funnel introduction for your process essay. To do so, look at the questions below to help you formulate your ideas. First, let's review the three goals of an introduction from Tuesday's class:

1. Get the reader's attention
2. Introduce your topic
3. Present your thesis (main idea of your essay)

To meet all three of these goals, try to answer the following questions:

1. What is your general topic? (not your specific topic, which you will introduce in question #3)
-Introduce it in an interesting complete sentence.

2. What are some examples of your general topic?
-Write some examples of this topic.

3. What is your specific topic? (more specific than #1 above)
-Introduce your specific topic in an interesting sentence.

4. What does your topic mean? Why is this topic important?
-Explain what your topic means, why it's important, what makes it relevant.

5. What is your thesis?
-Write your thesis.

We'll look at your introductions in class on Monday.

Good luck!

This week's question is one of the more unique questions that has been posted to a W&G 5 blog. Read it carefully and think about your response for a while before starting to write. Here it is:
